Normally you are looking at between the recommended 35k miles, and 150k miles, depending on how the car has been cared for/driven. There isn't a chain tensioner on a Skoda, so when it goes, it is time to replace straight away. But at least it isn't too expensive, The Part are only £12 (chain and sprockets), and on Estelle, there is loads of room. Unfortunatley, on a Favorit, the cam chain is pressed right against the right hand inner wing, and it is easier to get a garage to do it, but the going rate is about £150 labour. -- Carl Robson http://www.bouncing-czechs.com
