The funny thing is, if we look back through the history of engineering, we find that the durable classics were, indeed, founded on the principles you describe. In cars alone, leaving out SAAB, we can look back at the VW Beetle, the Austin Mini and the pre-Ford Volvo range; and there must have been others. -- Andrew Stephenson
