I was a passenger for the first time last night in our 'new' '98 9-3 clatterbox and I was musing on how narrow the footwell is compared to the old 900. The driver's footwell is quite cramped too with the clutch footrest very close to the pedal. We have bought a no-frills poverty spec model which is a humbling experience after the 900T16S. Whilst the drivers seat is very good with tweakers for lumbar support, the passenger seat is without such and is an orthopaedic nightmare. It will require supplementary padding for long trips. Furthermore there is no handy place to store CDs. Hopeless. I have to keep persuading myself that it's worth it for 45mpg. (Those of you in the US may have forgotten that in the UK and most of Europe petrol costs a little over $6 a gallon - and doubtless a whole lot more when Iraq gets it.) > Chas --
