It wasn't a totally different head, just different valve seat inserts. Skoda used to do something similar in the '80's. Certain models of car were mechanically the same as those for the general world market, but had lower compression for areas with lesser quality fuel supplies. Or other countries got totally unique variations such as the Canadian and Finish 135i Estelle for dealing with colder climes. the Estelle commonly wasn't available ater the 5 port iron head 130 with a carb, but Finland, Switzerland and Canada got special versions with the Alloy 8 port head and Bendix injection, and low compression. Supplosedly better at dealing with altitude, lower quality fuel were applicable, and unleaded fuel. -- Carl Robson http://www.bouncing-czechs.com
