It could be the DI cassette, but at 50k it's a bit early for it to be going out. Since he's described an overboost problem, it could be the overboost switch cutting in. The cause of this could be the BPC (APC) solenoid sticking or a leak or blockage in the bottom vacuum hose attached to it.
