The Alero is nearly as impressive as it gets for passenger cars from GM in the US. That is one of the reasons why the Oldsmobile division is being "made redundant". At least the Alero is better looking than its cousin, the Pontiac Grand Am, which looks like it was repeatedly hit with an ugly stick. An interesting statistic about the Alero: it (and the Grand Am) are not considered to be large cars, but are the largest cars GM offers with a manual transmission. But dealers never have any manual transmission models available, and most salespeople think it is only available with an automatic transmission. That is one of the reasons why I like Saabs. The cars are spacious and the salespeople can generally find a model that has a stick shift. That doesn't happen often at dealers of US cars. (Finally - I managed to get this thread back on topic!)
