Subject: Re: Why 85 considered bad MY for US 900T?

Both Volvo and Saab had biodegradable wiring on some 85 MY cars. What happens is that the insulation just comes off. Saabnet.com has a few posters per year with this problem. Not all were affected. It is the harness which is above the cat converter. Also, the harness in the engine bay iis critically affected. Some have transplanted a later harness into the car, others have repaired it piece by piece. Other than that, it is like any LH 2.2 800T (85-87). as you mention, the heat shield is very important to maintain. THere have been other harness problems on other MY cars due to this rusting through.
