At which i replied that it is piontless to do so, and as long as it is OT in a car newsgroup, and there's still freedom of speech around i'll do as i please. Why would i say this? Just as a piece of advise, i'm an engineer, i know about engines and stuff. > And furthermore, please do not > attempt to discern my living conditions from those commonly found in > your own. Last time I checked American building standards provided > sufficient insulation to protect the neighbors (closest is 200+ > meters) from the sound of an engine being started and idling at > approximately 1000 RPM or from the smell of exhaust. I missed the environmental issue, or is the environment something you do not wish to bother you? > Additionally, I > do not see how idling an engine "shortens the life" of the engine... > AND DON'T REFER TO ME OR MY ACTIONS AS STUPID, IT IS AN INSULT! No, it is a conclusion. If i'd say you're a stupid brainless idiot to leave it idling, now THAT would be an insult. I did say and mean no such thing! > If you have a question about how long I let it idle, ask... don't > assume. > Even have it idling for 2 minutes is useless and even harmful. Why can't you see the message inhere and are you just complaining about the way you are adressed? A cold engine wears the least under a mild load, not too much, but no load at all is just as bad as full throttle at cold. This is common knowledge for engineers, maybe i was a bit premature in assuming most people know this by now. All in all, i never intended to offend you, i was just giving some advise. -- Zweef
