Round tyres? Isn't all tyres/tires round, or do Skoda owners use other shapes like square or hexagonal? > I wonder if this is due to them being a winter tyre, or being badly > designed? Winter tyres/tires have softer rubber compound. This affects the road holding. The understeer vs. oversteer issue can often be fixed by using correct tyre/tire pressure. Most drivers seems to use too low pressure, especially in the rear, resulting in degraded road holding. > I thought they were Conti owned, but didn't realise that they had done > the stupid move of removing winter tyres from their native home and > designers and expecting them to work so well. The current Gislaved tires/tyres are good designs, but the next generation will not be from the good Gislaved designers. The history shows that the Continental designers have never been able to make a winter tyre/tire that worked properly in the Nordic climate. They will most likely fail the next time as well... -- G–ran Larsson http://www.nospam.com
