Perhaps your timing is off? One tooth on one gear or sprocket could be all it takes to make a world of difference. The other thing I can think of ... maybe in all the work your car got done to it, a wire got pinched or disconnected ... perhaps your ignition coil isn't getting power while the key is in the crank position. As soon as the key comes back to run, it gets power and the car runs. Just my small amount of change.
