Subject: Re: Views on Gislaved snow tyres

Salutations: That's weird - I've been using my Pirelli's snow and ice studless for the past 30,000km. I use them through the summer as well as it tends to rain a lot here in Nova Scotia in the spring and fall and it doesn't get so hot in August as to melt winter tires in traffic (although I flat spotted one this summer showing the kids why they should keep the seat belts on in the back seat). I usually toss all my tires after two winters and two summers and get a fresh pair for winter three.. So far - so good.. I gave up on all seasons as damned dangerous several years ago and live with the expense of replacing tires every couple of years (even though I always buy through a discounter). Sounds like you got a bum set and I'm sorry to hear it - I've had nothing my good luck with my pirelli's and recommend them highly.. If I was going to try something else, I'd really like to slip on some dunlops next time round if I can get a set for a reasonable price here.. I had a huge oversized set of theirs on an Isuzu Trooper and, while the tires took a while to warm up, they outlived the truck..
