There might be some strange US regulations preventing this, but in Sweden SAAB seems to fully recognise that the safest place for a child seat is in the front passenger seat. A new 9-5 can be delivered with the passenger airbag disconnected http://www.saabsverige.com/main/SE/sv/pdf/ebrochure_95.pdf for those who understand Swedish! and for older cars the charge is about 400 SEK (about 45 USD) to get a mechanical disconnection including marking of the car and a signed agreement ( http://www.ntf.se/skane/pdf/generalagenter.pdf once again in Swedish!). -- someguy
