I'm not familiar with this particular system but none of the systems I have seen are fused between the amp and the speakers. That doesn't preclude it, though. Since you were able to sometimes restore the sound by adjusting the volume, I doubt that a fuse would be the problem anyway. I'm thinking the problem may be in the volume control knob or switch itself.
