All you need is to fashion a small thumbnailed-shaped piece of black electrical tape. Then stick it on the clear plastic cover just in front of the check engine light. In between visits to the dealer, it worked for me. For all I know, there may even be a Saab technical service memo recommending this low-tech solution to a problem that apparently is very common.
