Subject: Re: saab 9000 alarm(?) problems

Andy, I had similar problems for a short while. They were sorted out by my local SAAB dealer (Swain & Jones, Farnham, Hants) after having the car recovered there by the RAC. They sorted it for about £200 which is about £190 over the top IMHO. Whether they needed to or not (I suspect not), they replaced the alarm disable switch at the back (i.e. front) of the glove box. After paying the cash, I discovered that there is an alarm reset procedure and wish I had tried this first. See e.g. http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&threadm=GpAC2.77 %24SY3.135%40198.235.216.4&rnum=1&prev=/groups%3Fq%3Dsaab%2Balarm%2Bresettin g%2Bkey%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26ie%3DUTF-8%26oe%3DUTF-8%26selm%3DGpAC2.77%2524SY 3.135%2540198.235.216.4%26rnum%3D1 As this costs nothing, I'd say give it a try - though from my story above, you will have guessed correctly that I've never tried it myself. If it still gives problems, find the Alarm disable key (a little barrel key) and turn the alarm off and on again a few times in the glove box. It might just be an intermittent contact. Again this will cost you nothing to try. By the way my blipper performs best in the dry and worst in mist/drizzle, but may not be the same technology as yours; mine is RF, yours may be IR.
