For what it's worth, my experience: Had the same experience and was told new compressor needed. Did a little investigation and found a temp sensor inline with the 12 volts to the electric clutch. Try bypassing the sensor (it screws into the housing on mine) and apply 12 volts directly to the AC clutch with the AC controls set to cool. About $ 100.00 later, I have cooling again.
