Subject: Re: Classic 900 and High wattage bulbs

This might be of interest to you; http://www.legislation.hmso.gov.uk/si/si1989/Uksi_19891796_en_10.htm It seems there is no legislation on the wattage of bulb, as long as it carries an approved marking, either British standard, or the E marking. But then, with correctly aligned head lights, how many police men are going to pull you over for having 'too bright a headlight' OK, if you've got those daft 'blue/zenon' effect ones maybe. Also, for the MOT, there is no check of power, as long as they work and are correctly aligned. I've been using 130/90's in my Cavalier (Ok, can't quite afford the saab I want yet :) and the wiring's been fine. Possibly over kill, but anyone who's driven a Cav at night will know the standard lights are some what 'lacking' Also, if you don't want to go for higher power bulbs the Phillips vision plus bulbs are really good for 60/55's. One question though, you say about getting the reflectors re-silvered. Any idea where this can be done in the UK? Cheers Rich In article <MPG.18a8a20c20e758d898a0c5nopsam.cis.dfn.de>, MeatballTurbo <carl.robsonnopsamcing-czechs.com> writes >In article <b1m23j$1456g3$1nopsam52899.news.dfncis.de>, grunffnopsam.com >says... >> I believe they're plastic, but don't quote me. >> >Oh bugger there goes the high wattage idea then. > >I'll see what it's like going home (fully dark) tonight, as it was half >light this morning. > >When I tested the lights stationary last night, they lit up a good >range, but didn't seem very bright (engine running) so I'll see what >they are like moving. -- Richard Chew
