I own a 1994 V6 with 215,000 kms. (134k mi.) and let me tell you there is no shortage of power from that engine, especially when the tach hits four grand. However, the previous owner had the water pump blow up on him and other collateral damage occur. The car is presently in the shop for a new thermostat, a job which should be pretty straight forward. However, on this engine it is anything but. There's a few hours labour just to get at the damn thing. Not to mention the price of the part itself. I'm sure there are people in this group that have more experience with this matter than I do. Good luck.
