But, you really have to shut off the headlights for them to help and that's not necessarily legal. You're right about the short beam... it doesn't make them more useful. I myself prefer a "driving" light mounted low like a fog light. It gets the light down low, which helps in fog and snow. It lights for a long distance, which makes them practical to use. It also (when properly aimed) supplements the weaker factory low beams without blinding on-coming drivers the way your high-beams will. Bob
