If you see oil leaks under the car, that would be an indication of a seal leak like the rear main seal. To repair this, the transmission must be removed, AFAIR. If this is the problem, there will likely be oil _under_ the rear of the engine where it meets the transmission. It is also possible that the oil is leaking from another location. It could be the oil pressure sender, the head gasket, or somewhere else. If there are no external leaks, then it is possible that the oil is leaking internally. This would usually be past the valve stem seals or past the rings. You can't see this from the outside although you might be able to smell it or see it in the exhaust of you know what to look for. I'd suggest that you look for an external leak first. If you find it, you'll need a garage to repair it unless you are skilled. 1 quart per 2000 miles is a fair amount so you should be able to find some serious drips after parking. If you can't find any drips under the car, you have an internal problem. Again, see a mechanic. I'd recommend doing your own research beforehand by looking for significant drips over a few days or weeks. Bob The best thing to do is to take it to a garage
