Subject: Re: use fossil or synthetic oil?

Salutations: For what it's worth - I'm sticking with semi-synth (shell) here as I'm running 310,000km + on a 89 2.0T engine... It's been working great and seems to weep at the seals - less - than dino-oil.. I haven't gone all synth - but given the wisdom on the thread - I don't think I will.. I haven't noticed much burn or evaporation either though this winter having only had to top it up once on the road to Ottawa.. Tell me - does anyone know where I could get a tri pack 9000 gauge insert that would include some measurement on tranny pressure or temp in addition to oil temp and pressure? Would I have to abandon the ashtray or could I put it in the large box at the bottom?..
