Subject: Re: How to remove ront headrest - '89 900S

Greg, Thanks. Finally tracked down some info on some newsgroups. Same recommendation. Tried it today and I'm not sure it's worth the trouble. There were some springs and stays in the seat to hold the fabric over the foam. I unzipped the seat back zipper, then released the two side clips. Then I ran into the springs and stays. It appears they are routed through the seat to hold the fabric in place. It's not quite like unzipping a sleeping back and pulling it up over the seat back. I bought some sheepskin covers that "just fit" over the headrest and around the seat skirt. Since the '89 900S headsets are fairly low profile, I figured this would do. The cover manufacturer recommends removing the headrest, which would allow for a slightly looser fit, but I'm not sure the headrest would/could be reattached and fit over the sheepskin since they're so snug in the first place. Anyone else have any experience using a seat cover? I'm just staring to lose some foam in the seat area and didn't want to go to the expense of a complete reupholster job. I'm convinced what's under the hood will far outlive the interior, especially anything made with fabric!
