The problem isn't going to be getting traction in the threads - I think he (or the next poor wrench who changes the oil) might be in danger of spreading the crack if it gets put back on too hard.. Probably can't even use the official torque value anymore.. I'm wondering if he can't put a treaded sleeve in that will seal - but spin in a epoxy seal on the original case.. You know - fill it will loctite and twist a smaller oil plug in until it seals - take the reading off your torque wrench and that's the number to tell the oil change guy.. I think pumping oil though the fill hole will most likely result in - very - long intervals before oil changes.. The thing's a classic - it deserves some love in it's dotage.. :) .. -- J Dexter - webmaster - http://www.dexterdyne.org/ all tunes - no cookies no subscription no weather no ads no news no phone in - RealAudio 8+ Required - all the Time Radio Free Dexterdyne Top Tune o'be-do-da-day Doctor Hook - The Cover of the Rolling Stone http://www.dexterdyne.org/888/033.RAM
