Not really that short, but according to the manual they should be replaced every 20K miles, which is about right for standard copper plugs. Everybody has gotten used to the change intervals of platinum plugs which can be 100K miles between changes, but don't use them on a Saab. While the correct plugs for a Saab are inexpensive, I consider his quote of $12 a set to be way too high. I think I can get them for between $5 and $10 a set (4 plugs for $1.25 to $2 each). He is correct in that they are very easy to replace. There are one or two people that occasionally have a problem with a newer car that should be under warranty. The last one I can remember was from someone who bought the car used with the remainder of the warranty. The timing belt broke and toasted the engine. Saab was rejecting the warranty claim because maintenance on the timing belt wasn't performed when it should have been. There were other issues, and it wasn't a typical situation.
