Thanks for all the advice. Removed the motor, poured out the water,repacked the gear case with grease,cleaned the two lead connections and re-assembled. The motor worked great in my hand by the way, but the final drive gear was showing signs of wear and there was quite a bit of play in the shaft.....but for $308.75 for a new motor from the dealer.....I'll take my chances on the quick fix for now........if it fails down the road, then I'll replace with a crank!
