Plus it costs a small fortune (My Indy did the lot - chains, sprockets, guides, tensioners) , but > it doesn't require any special tools, and is suitable for the > home mechanic. Did my '94 9000 last year, wasn't too bad, but I understand that access is worse on the '89 so you have to take more stuff off first. Haynes says to remove the bonnet! you do not need to do this. My tips: First check that the heater matrix is the problem. The quick release fittings and o-rings on the earlier models can be troublesome - you may get away with just replacing the o-rings. If the heater matric has failed then consider changing it out for a newer type - you will need to buy new hoses too. set the AC to cold so that you can unclip the cable that actuates the flap easily, put something thin and tough between the evaporator and the inner-wing to protect the paint, remember how you had to manouvre the blower motor to get it out, be careful of the plastic clips that hold the blower motor assembly together when you put it back in. Consider replacing the blower motor at this time. I did mine in 3.5-4 hours but allow a little longer for the extra stuff that you will need to remove on the '89. > > There's a very good description of how to do it on Quasi's site: > <http://www.quasimotors.com/> > > -- > Grunff > As Grunff said, Quasi's description is excellent and the photos save a few thousand words and some head scratching! The write-up at http://www.townsendimports.com is useful too. AndyH '94 9000 CDE
