I don't think Saabs unfortunate decision to drop the hatchback was for safety reasons. More like a sad attempt to emulate BMW and MB. If anybody from Saab reads this board PLEEEEAAASE bring back the hatch. It is what made Saabs different and distinctive. They had the "upmarket" hatch market to themselves.
