Subject: Re: electric arial probs.

The ariel needs a supply (normally permenant not ignition )and a good earth to power up and down ,and a + 12v signal from the head unit to operate it . First check the earth as a rear lamp stud may not be clean enough, try to find a factory earth point near the ariel , second is to check that you have a permenant supply and third check that the signal wire is good Hope this helps Radar "MeatballTurbo" <carl.robsonnopsamcing-czechs.com> wrote in message news:MPG.18fb83ab16c2e66b989681nopsam.cis.dfn.de... > OK, my old electric arial had been stuck halfway between fully extended, > and fully down. > Car is a C900 T16S 1984. > > It wasn't a problem as it still worked as an arial, but made a god awful > grinding noise when you switched on and off the headunit. > > When I swapped for the CD player, it continued to do that, although I > had to tape the antenna remote line to the original Saab one, as I > didn't have any bullet connectors.
