Ah, but the newer ones give you a foolproof gui (that doesn't blue-screen at inconvenient times; mine has crashed once since December), and combines it with the Unix (FreeBSD, specifically) operating system, so you can go in and do the heavy-duty development and management if you want. Was the first thing I dug into when I brought the iMac home; "get me a telnet session". The easy GUI and tools are perfect for the kid, and the fact that I can use it as a test and demo platform for my Unix/Linux projects for work makes it a great fit. More than once I've prototyped systems on my Mac at home to do demos for work. Dave Hinz
