I finally got a replacement vac canister (for the heat vent controller) and took the opportunity to replace all the vac hosing. [Note to Meatball Turbo: I got it from JG Motors http://www.saabspecialist.co.uk/ who sound like a grumpy bunch on the 'phone, but they're fine really.] A quick vac meter test at warm idle showed everything to be fine (18 Hg) and a couple of revs made the meter do what I expected. On to the test drive. Smoooth ... Wow! What a difference. The car feels like it has a soul again. An hour and a half later I just wanted to keep going, but my wife got hungry so we trooped back home.
