You shouldn't find it too difficult - just try not to lose bits! I can e-mail you an exploded diagram and list of part numbers if that would help. > > My indy normally lends me one of his cars when he does > > work on my 9000. I found him by word of mouth - in fact I try to do that with everyone that I have to pay to do work I can't. It's not a cast iron guarantee, but at least you know that you're getting someone who has done satisfactory work before. > > Aside from the money she's only got good things to say > > about what I've done / had done with my 9000. The distilled wisdom seems to be that it could go on for years (losing small amounts of oil and water externally) but that it is probably better to do it before next winter when it may get a lot worse. I plan to get it done this Easter because I plan to keep the car a while yet, I don't have cars that mess up the driveway and my wallet can just about cope at the moment. > Is mortgage endowment your equity? I'm not sure of that term. Around here > everyone is remortgaging because interest rates have fallen so low. An endowment is a type of investment plan that you use as a mortgage repayment vehicle. Basically you only pay off the accruing interest on the mortgage amount and pay into a separate endowment plan. Essentially you are gambling that the return that you get on the endowment (after charges and commisions etc) is better than the prevailing interest rate. At the moment it seems that these stock market based 'investments' are just losing half of what you put into them. As it happens, we remortgaged last year to a lower rate but kept our payments the ~same with the intention of repaying the mortgage early. At the moment it looks like we will only just make up the endowment shortfall. I'm seriously thinking about stopping paying into the endowment and converting to a straightforward repayment mortgage. It won't cost much more, is guaranteed to repay the loan and if/when interest rates go above ~7% it will actually work out cheaper! > > > > Of course, by then I may have fallen in love with the 900 as > > > > well as the 9000 and we may need 3 cars ;-) > > > Yes, you never know! > > I may never find out :-( > Hang in there. Perhaps retail therapy is the answer - i.e find and buy the right c900 for the feel good factor ;-) AndyH '94 9000 CDE
