It's what they call anecdotal evidence, you might get pretty skewed numbers if you want to measure Linux use from looking at numbers of Usenet postings. I'm saying that I think most present Mac users have been with the platform since before OSX. You're very welcome to have the opposite view, if you insist... >>- Therefore most Mac users got in at the time the MacOS had nothing to >>do with Unix. > > If you're basing this on your previous flawed points, I'm not sure that > you can logically say this. I'm guesstimating the numbers of recent converts to be lower than the old pre-OSX gang. You're welcome to disagree, and you're welcome to point out that I can't prove my points. You'd be right about the latter. >>- Mac users have always been relatively strong advocates (defending >>their 'choice' to be different) > > Yes, similar to how Saab enthusiasts feel about their car. I don't like fanatics much, they have a habit of insisting everybody else's arguments are flawed ;-) >>- Now that the Mac OSX at last comes with a command line it's suddenly >>the greatest thing since sliced bread. > > Well, it's alot more than just command line of course. I'm asking what I'm asking, if Saab owners are even more intense than LR owners. I was actually trying to get out of argument mode here... >>I noticed - after driving mine for years - that other >>Discovery owners actually waved at me when I drove by. I'm hoping it won't be so bad, but I'll let you know, Saabs are pretty common 'round these parts. I don't know how it is elsewhere in the world but I used to drive a motorbike and here in Holland all bikers greet one another. So on a - rare - sunny day you sit there waving all the time or feel guilty because you're not friendly like the others. People seem to mistake choice of transport for choice of religion occasionally. Well I'm an atheist in both cases, but I *do* need a car... ;-) X.
