I'm tapped as usual - so long and often overlooked details > would be helpful.. Oh dear - your story is ver familiar - I was in exactly that situation a few years ago. FWIW, this is what I did. I removed the whole assembly, as you are suggesting. I just couldn't figure out how to get enough cable play to get it back to how it was. So I foolishly opened up the cable 'drum'. I found that the cable had been chewed in one place. So I got on the phone. Apparently the cable is an off-the-shelf item, priced at £40. Before I went ahead and ordered one, I popped down to my local scrappy, to see if they had anything useful. Found a 1990 9k, and they only wanted £30 for the *whole* mechanism. So I removed it, took it home, installed it, and never looked back. The only advice I can offer is to try and get a replacement mechanism. Once you have that, you're only 10 minutes away from a working window. Good luck. -- Grunff
