Since you choose not to unveil your name and whereabouts, your comment shouldn't be taken too seriously. Still, here are some facts: There is no such thing as a car "made in Sweden" as you say. Parts and ideas come from all over the place. This has nothing to do with personal opinions, it is just a matter of geographical facts. I don't know why you come up with such a statement in this day and age of globalization. The current 9-3 and 9-5 are drawn by Norwegian Einar Hareide, who was head of design at Trollh”ttan during the nineties. The current design boss is from Germany. My '92 Griffin was built in Finland, and it definitely was a Saab. To find out, all you have to do is take a look under the bonnet. Under mine was this declaration: "Assembled in Finland by Valmet OY, Nystad". Valmet OY also assembled all the cabriolets until this year, and the new cab is to be assembled in Austria at the Steyr-Puch plant. By the way, Valmet also used to assemble the Porche Boxter, some Talbot models for the Finnish home market, plus the rather oddball Lada Samara Finlandia and a Saab 900 Limo version custom built for the President of the Republic. Valmet's reputation of high build quality made the Saabs made there much sought-after object, also here in Norway. As for the history, one should remember that a small manufacturer in a small country always needs to look abroad for solutions, as Saab did when they went to Ford in Germany to buy a 4-stroke V4 for the 96, or when they put the British Triumph engine in the model 99. -- Leif Tangen, Svelvik, Norway 1976 96L V4 1977 99 GLS 1986 900i 1992 900i 2,1 Griffin 1998 900S 1999 9-5 2,0t http://homepage.mac.com/tangen/saab.html
