Thanks guys.  I guess I was leaning that way too since the engine
compartment is so empty right now it sure will make the timing cover more
accessible.  The only trick will be getting the crank pulley off.

As a side note, I have read (somewhere) that it is really best to remove the
head to remove the timing cover and do the timing chains as you are quite
likely to nick the headgasket where it extends over the timing cover.

Those foolish chain guides are the most expensive part.  I think I'll pull
the cover and access the situation before I order the chains and sprockets.
This engine only has ~120k miles on it.

When I get done with this one I have another '92 9000T that I think also
needs the balance shaft chains done based on the noise (haven't looked at
the timing chain tensioner yet).  I should be an expert on these when I get
finished with these two.  Either that or I may farm the second one out to my
local indy...  ;-)
