Subject: Name that Braking 'thang..

Salutations: Hey folks - without becoming overly paranoid here as it's been going on for about 70,000km - I have had an issue with my brake system that I can't completely pin down.. Indeed - it may be nothing and I'll be hung if I'll wander into a brake shop and ask about it without really knowing what I'm asking about.. While I have the obligatory loose Anti-Lock ring happening on one side so that it shows me an anti-lock light every so often - it (the anti-lock system) has been performing perfectly and without problems through two winters.. Really had to use a snow bank once this season in a ice storm and it slowed down AND steered as advertised.. I've not had much good to say about anti-lock - but it was eye-opening when I really needed it.. However - I have noticed that every so often the peddle goes hard, then gives a bit and then kicks in as per normal.. I get an instant where the peddle is going down and the brake changes rotor grip in one short quick cycle.. It feels like an anti-lock action with out the buck as the peddle goes stiff then lightly gives and settles down.. But it seems to be happen without an associated triggering slippery road.. I think I'm looking for a master cylinder related item - but it could also be a weird anti-lock thing (which I'm afraid to say I don't know much about).. So - as always - any 9000 experiences would be welcomed before I dip into the donor recruiting budget.. -- J Dexter - webmaster - http://www.dexterdyne.org/ all tunes - no cookies no subscription no weather no ads no news no phone in - RealAudio 8+ Required - all the Time Radio Free Dexterdyne Top Tune o'be-do-da-day Clapton The Band - Further On Up the Road http://www.dexterdyne.org/888/091.RAM
