TIA I thought that there had to be at least two officers for such evidence to be used in court. Then obviously, the margin of error is large such that it can only work for large speed violations. Although the speeding might have been noticeable, is only reasonable to apply a margin of error to bring down the violation as much as possible. E.g. a violation of 30mph would assume that their method by eye was dead accurate, which it can't be. You could argue that the speed violation in reality might have been 5-10 mph.
