They don't use much LPG here in the USA. Roughly, in the netherlands it's a follows: the LPG fuel costs 0.35 EURO per litre. Unleaded 95 petrol/gasoline costs around 1.15. Avg consumption is 10 to 20% less miles per galon on LPG then petrol. So you would be driving 50% to 70% cheaper... However there's a catch, and mind you, this is different per country, so not much Union in the "Yurpean Onion" In the Netherlands, the road tax for an LPG converted car is more then twice the amount you pay for the same car on petrol. I'm not much a math's master, but there are some rules of economics applying here. Fixed cost (road tax) is higher on LPG, though variable costs (fuel per litre) are much lower. Take into account the cost of converting, (only when you do the conversion yourself, you can of course alway buy a car that was fitted already), so extra depreciation and stuff, and there is a tip over point (break even point) were running gas becomes more economic then on petrol. On a car like the SAAB9000 that is around 13.000 KM/year. Again, this only applies to Holland. It's different everywhere. In France the LPG costs 0.60EURO, in Belgium 0.20, and I am clueless if they have tax tariff differentiation there... >Quite a bit more.
