Salt usage? Salt usage, as a result of weather. I'm within a few miles of Lake Michigan, which is one of the large group of lakes in the north-central area of the country. Lots of snow, ice, and so on, and there seems to be an attitude (in the cities more so than in the rural areas) that every last bit of snow needs to be melted off the roads, by using salt. (In my rural area where I live, it's mostly handled with an attempt at plowing and the spreading of sand for traction, more than salt). As a result, a 10 year old car will very often have rust which is widely attributed to the salting of the roads. Dave
