I haven't read the other responses yet, but I'll be surprised if it's not a bad ground. I'd start looking for corrosion at the taillight which is showing these symptoms. What's probably happening is that the ground to that socket is broken or just crudded up, so the current is finding a different path back... through, it seems, your blinker circuitry. If that's not it, I'll be surprised. I know that the grounds on my '88 needed a bit of attention by a year ago for roughly this reason. Dave Hinz
