I would go with the term account, instead. If you're going to be spending over $4,000 on the car over a two-year period, you might be better off using it as a downpayment on a new one and with the term account, you'd have that option, along with the interest. Extended warranties can be very picky about what they cover, what they consider "normal wear and tear." Check around and check on the web if you really feel you need one and review the coverage very carefully. Personally, I think you can get a much better deal on a warranty.
