I think it gets to a point where you've spent so much time and money on a car, and you know and love it so well, that a new gearbox isn't that big a deal. This is certainly the case with Silver, my very tatty but mechanically superb 1986 16T (which has had all of the above work and much more). I can't see me parting with her. All she needs is a respray and new interior and she'd be showroom. -- Grunff
