I've heard that one too, but I'm not too sure. I think a big factor is driving the car hard, then coming to a stop while the rotors are still very hot. They then cool very unevenly, with the area under the pads cooling at a much lower rate than the exposed areas. This mechanism definitely causes warping; I've experienced it first hand. -- Grunff
