yea, I've been told that there is no way to do this. When I had the second key made for my 99 9-5 last year the dealer told me in passing that " it's good that you're doing this, if you lose the second one you have to get the computer replaced" I challenged him but the explanation was that in order to get the TECH II to talk to the car, something has to tell the car that it's been "authorized" to turn on and talk to stuff. That has to be a valid, working key. BTW, a single key for the 9-5 with a trip to program it and the remote opener was nearly $100. That's $50 or so for the key blank cut for my car and the transponder and $50 to program the remote. Good thing I didn't have to buy a remote, I found one on e-bay for $19 that works fine. The dealer wanted another $100 for that. moral of the story: Don't lose your key and if you do REALLY don't lose the second one!
