Toyota seems to take pride in making the Camry boring and "American" looking inside (FYI - I've owned and liked a few Toyotas so it's not just prejudice I spout, but simple observation). I almost bought a Camry for my wife (with ideas of TRD struts, springs, and superchargers to spice it up) but after test driving one I could not stand the boredom and plainness of the car itself. One prejudice I do hold against Toyota is their warranty coverage. I could post the story, but I won't. I'll just summarize by saying that Toyota failed to cover an obvious design issue because they didn't want the liability for the rest of the cars they were selling i.e. covering me would have opened up most of their cars to similar repair issues. Saab, OTOH, was outstanding in their warranty coverage. They cover everything you can imagine under the 4/50 warranty. They fixed rattle issues at 35K when the warranty says 16K/1 year. I know of folks who've had mufflers and batteries replaced at 45K and every other manufacturer says that's a wear item. They even volunteered to do work that they saw that I needed without me asking. >If this thing ever dies, I will consider a Saab 9-3 5spd manual. If you are in the Boston area, I can point you at a terrific dealer up on the North Shore. Small, one man dealer, you deal with him. He gets off lease cars direct from Saab auctions. He's very selective, and will look for the car you want if he does not have it in his small inventory. He'll give you a fair price without a lot of normal dealership nonsense. I have no financial interest in his operation but he was outstanding to deal with and I recommend him to anyone looking for a used Saab in Eastern MA. Post again if you want the details and I'll email his info to you. Bob
