We're all Saab lovers, but there > may be a next best option. What would you do in my shoes for a low cost low > maintenance but solid car? A mechanic suggested a VW Jetta. I'm biased, but I believe I have good reasons. I've owned cars from the following manufacturers: Saab Volvo BMW Renault Citroen Honda Vauxhall Rover And to me, only BMW come close to (and in some aspects surpass) the quality of a Saab. If I were you, I'd get a late 9000 Aero. You will love it very, very much. Alternatively, go for a late 5 series. Superb cars. -- Grunff
