just to thank all who gave me feedback on my bald tyre problem (can anyone give me feedback on the balding head problem? ;-) ) the verdict is in, sort-of. the body shop had no record of the alignment guy's readouts - they had been submitted to the insurance company for payment. so he had the alignment guys look at the front end again. they insisted that their original work was done correctly and that the (symmetrical) toe-out must have happened while i was driving the BC highways. they reviewed the settings and re-set the alignment to what they call the "best they can do" given that they now think that a strut is bent.... now the steering wheel is off-centre and there is a slight rightward drift - but the wheels are not visibly toed-out any more and there is a bit of a "scraping" sound when i turn the wheels.... (any thoughts on that?) so, i'm off to a frame alignment shop next week to have them have a closer look to see what exactly is damaged under there and find out how much it will cost to fix.... -- ____________________ abdallah 87 9000S 282,000 km (hers) 87 9000T 241,000 km (mine)
