Diffeent cars for different environments and different priorities. I am extremely happy with a '02 9-3 convertible, and no one can make a rational argument that it is a less practical car than my previous car, a Jaguar XJR. The 9-3 is quiet enough to be absolutely suitable for long distance drives. (Don't forget we seldom do more than 85mph in California, and that is pushing it). And while the body flexes more -the only true criticism offered thus far- I don't fool myself into thinking I will take the car on track days. Moreover, having also been in the old 9-3 hatchback, I don't think the differences in driving nature all too striking. It is what I'd regard as a perfect California car. If I lived in the inner city and had to park the car out every night - different story. ...pablo
