Subject: Time to pull the engine? NG900

There was a post a while back about 94 NG900 to be on the look-out for oil leaks between the engine and tranny? My friend with a 97 900 with 150K on it is seeing clean oil leaking there... and asks is this transmission oil or engine oil. Or are there two separate failures? Also, the other post up there talks about transmission failures... but there's no year listed... my question is (I'm thinking of buying a '94 NG900) is what milage do people typically get before the engine needs to be pulled? And are there differences between the NG900 and the C900 as to what you'd do when the engine is out. The C900 seemed to have a long list starting with CVboots running right through clutch, throwout bearing, and pinion bearings, syncros, forks. It'd be almost like that Ghostbusters movie with the ambulance they bought! 8-) I guess the other question that might make sense is what price do people pay for a clutch replace in NG900's? I paid $1500 once for a trany rebuild in a '84 C900..The £800 converts to ~$1300 US. And I just heard of $2300 being paid. Can independent shops do this OK? -D
