Subject: Saab 93 rotten egg exhaust smell

My wife purchased a 93 back in March and from day one it would emit a sour, rotten egg smell from under the vehicle. The dealer first said that she had to ensure that she always used 93 octane gas (she does). When that didn't make a difference he said she should use the same gas i.e. Sunoco or other brand but not Mobil (detergent in the gas). When that didn't work he said it would need 10,000 miles to break in. She has now has over 12,000 miles and the same smell. The dealer has now said she should drive using the tiptronic.manual feature on the transmission for a while because it will run at higher rpms, run hotter and....? I'm getting a bit weary of the bs and wonering if anyone has an idea. Bad catalytic converter?? something else? Thanks, Jeff sabre36nopsamnline.net
